VIENNA, VA – April 28, 2020 – LaserShip, the largest regional e-commerce parcel carrier in the US, today shared the latest steps the company is taking to keep deliveries safe and support the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a leader in last mile delivery over the past three decades, LaserShip has been a vital partner to organizations working to get essential supplies to consumers, businesses and healthcare providers during the crisis. Below are some of the specific actions the organization has taken:

Focus on Health and Safety: LaserShip has prioritized the health and safety of its team, customers, and the community. Based on recommendations from the CDC and health officials, LaserShip has implemented precautions to ensure a safe and clean environment throughout the delivery process. This includes increased sanitization, social distancing and adhering to governmental mandates for workers to wear gloves and masks. LaserShip is also limiting interactions with members of the public by no longer requiring signatures for deliveries.

Commitment to Fast and Reliable: With schools closed and many people working remotely, consumers and businesses are relying on fast and safe delivery more than ever, and LaserShip is working hard to keep deliveries on time, despite increased demand. For example, the company is seeing a surge in perishables from fresh produce providers like Misfits Market to frozen meat purveyors and meal kit companies, as communities look to alternatives to grocery stores. The LaserShip team is also seeing record volumes from large enterprise customers with essential deliveries like toilet paper and diapers. LaserShip is also fast-tracking a new delivery app to help make deliveries more efficient.

Delivery for Healthcare Providers: LaserShip is playing a critical role working with wholesale pharmaceutical and medical supply distributors to deliver essential items quickly, and in record quantities. LaserShip is delivering gloves and masks to the front lines, as well as COVID-19 test kits.

“Since the start of the COVID-19 emergency, we’ve seen our LaserShip team step up to ensure vital deliveries are made and our communities are supported,” Brett Bissell, CEO of LaserShip said. “Each day, we’re doing everything we can to stay on top of increased demand in a safe way for our employees, independent contractors and our customers, while also looking for ways we can help the greater community. That’s our focus right now, and I couldn’t be more proud of our team.”

LaserShip has also been looking for ways to support the community. For example, when Inova, Northern Virginia’s leading nonprofit healthcare provider, faced a dire challenge of securing vital medical supplies, LaserShip volunteered to help. The company worked with Inova’s logistical team to arrange pick-up and delivery of masks, gowns and other supplies to its network of five hospitals each day.

In many cases, the LaserShip team has also been going above and beyond for its customers. For example, when an employee in Maryland heard about a shipment of baby formula being stolen, the LaserShip team sprang into action and located the specific formula at a local retailer, and hand-delivered the replacement to the customer so her newborn could stay fed.
