St. Paul, Minn. – October 27, 2014 – In today’s market, packaging isn’t just about protecting goods as they move from point A to point B — it’s about helping products stand out, maximizing efficiency, and improving the bottom line. As the only company that makes both tape and automated case sealing equipment, 3M understands packaging needs better than anyone, and is bringing an impressive lineup of solutions to Pack Expo International, November 2-5 in Chicago, Illinois. At the 3M booth, #4921 in the North Upper Hall of McCormick Place, visitors will see a sampling of 3M’s customizable packaging technologies and will have the opportunity to consult with 3M experts on how to improve their own production lines.

Customer feedback drives continuous innovation at 3M, and the technologies on display at Pack Expo will showcase the company’s expertly designed solutions to meet customer’s packaging challenges. New equipment that will be highlighted includes.

• A new line of 3M-Matic™ Case Sealers with expanded capabilities, all designed to help companies save money while improving their packaging throughput and providing a quality seal. During the 45th anniversary year of the 3M-Matic Case Sealer, 3M continues its tradition of case sealing performance with these new models:
o The 7000a Pro effectively seals similar size boxes, and has manually adjustable belts that accommodate different box sizes. Seals up to 40 cases per minute.
o The 7000r Pro automatically adjusts to a box’s dimensions. Seals up to 24 cases per minute.
o The 8000a is equipped with a side belt drive system and is most suitable for narrow boxes. Seals up to 40 cases per minute.

• The Scotch® Multipack Solution—a tape-based alternative to shrink wrap and manual pack outs. It’s a faster and greener solution for multi-unit and promotional packaging.

• The 3M-Matic™ Wrapper FL360—a first of its kind tape machine to replace plastic or metal straps. The FL360 applies tape to boxes that are typically banded, providing a uniform application of Scotch® Box Sealing Tape or Scotch® Filament Tape simultaneously around corrugated cartons, and closing up to nine boxes per minute.

• The 3M-Matic™ L-Clip Applicator S-867 showcases a range of options for applying tape to boxes. It is designed to add tape to five-panel folder, full overlap, telescoping and die cut boxes.

• The stainless steel option for the 3M™ AccuGlide™ Taping Head NPH is designed to fit any case sealing system efficiently for superior tape performance. The option of stainless steel eliminates limitations for food packaging and meat processing professionals by enabling streamlined operations, maximized productivity and improved quality.

“Customers need tapes and machines with a wider window of capabilities to fit the whole variety of finished goods they produce and ship, and that is what our solutions are designed to provide,” said Katie Kamnetz, US Marketing Equipment Manager. “We can also customize our equipment to meet individual customers’ needs and fit into their existing production lines.”

The 3M booth will highlight several examples of its customized solutions, and experts will be on hand to consult with attendees about how 3M technologies can ease their pain points. Also at the booth, attendees will have the opportunity to enter to win a 3M-Matic™ Adjustable Case Sealer 7000a Pro.
