Minneapolis, Minn., June 17, 2015 – SICK (www.sickusa.com), one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sensors, safety systems, machine vision, encoders and automatic identification solutions for factory, logistics, and process automation, today announced the launch of the RFU620 RFID read/write device. The RFU620 is a compact, integrated, passive UHF RFID read/write device (interrogator) with an IP 67-rated metal housing that is ideal for acquiring and tracking data in industrial environments.

The RFU620 has a scanning range of up to 1 m and a small size of just 5x5 in, making it easy to fit in small spaces. In addition to industry-standard serial and Ethernet communications, the RFU620 is also available with Power over Ethernet (PoE), which reduces setup time and installation costs since only one cable is needed for both power and Ethernet. The RFU620 uses SICK SOPAS configuration software and an onboard intelligence, which ensures easy operation and high accuracy when reading and writing data to tags.

The RFU620 is ideal for mid-range sensing and identification applications in automotive, transport logistics, food and beverage, and storage and conveyor environments. With an integrated heater incorporated into the “Ethernet” variant (not PoE), the RFU620 can also be used in deep freeze storage applications with temperatures as low as 40° C.
